My Top 5 Favorite Instagram Accounts

Communication through photos and videos is the new way of life in a world saturated by social media and technology. One of my favorite social media avenues to utilize is Instagram. Enabling you to be transported worlds away to another land and witness beauty through the perspective of a strangers eyes. So, I wanted to share my top five favorite Instagram accounts that constantly keep me inspired and enchanted with the world around me. 

Girl-About-Town: Ria Torres

Meet this months “Girl-About-Town" Ria Torres, from Brooklyn, New York. Girl-About-Town: Sasha Barkanic

Meet this months “Girl-About-Town” multi-faceted fashion and graphic creative; Sasha Barkanic. Born and raised in Sunny California and hailing from a beach town has definitely had its influence on this free-spirited soul. Whether she’s hanging out on Abbot Kinney with Ziggy her adorable French Bulldog or working the window displays in 60’s influenced denim bell bottoms and a ivory crochet-fringed tunic; there is no doubt this gal lives, breathes, and dresses the bohemian life. 

Mini Getaway: Catalina Island

Another year older, another major life lesson learned. Spent my birthday in beautiful Catalina. Saw porpoises swim and witnessed my first whale spouting water...it was magical to see sea animals in their natural habitat, to say the least. All in all, it was a peaceful, quiet birthday filled with marvel and wonder at the beauty that is mother nature.

Meet this months "Girl-About-Town" Habbibah Koroma. Hailing from New York City, but currently in the process of relocating to Los Angeles; this model/aspiring fashion industry professional knows a thing or two about high fashion and street style. Whether it’s heading to a go-see in New York in all-chic black or hanging out in downtown L.A. in a casual cool outfit, she effortlessly nails the East Coast/West Coast style like a pro.

It might very well be every girls inquisitive nature to be curious about what it looks like inside any fashionable women’s closet.  Just to garner a sneak peek inside the lavish temple that is every women’s sanctuary. Thankfully there’s a site for that called Closetvisit.com.  Photographer Jeana Sohn did just that, visiting the closets of fashionable women all over Los Angeles, photographing them in their natural habitat and interviewing them on topics from their favorite places to shop to their own unique styles.

It’s that time of year again...photographers scampering to get the best shot, bloggers piling on the trends hoping to get photographed, editors racing from one location to the next; eyes glued on their iPhones and iPads secured in hand...yes, NYFW has descended upon Manhattan.

Girl-About-Town: Rebels Rejoice's Sarom Hong

Meet this months “Girl-About-Town” Sarom Hong, a thirty-something year-old software entrepreneur by day and vintage-fashion wrangler by night. When she’s not busy scouring flea markets for vintage treasures for her vintage clothing company Rebel’s Rejoice or placing bids for her software company Zetta Pros, you can find her at her favorite local Long Beach or Los Angeles spots enjoying bottomless mimosas or trying on the latest fashion fresh off the racks at local boutiques. We’re not sure how she does it all while still managing to look so put together but she manages to do it all, rejoicing in along the way. 

Ladies and Gentlemen-Stone Cold Fox Fall 2014 Collection

There's something about the Stone_Cold_Fox Fall 2014 Collection that evokes a faded memory, as if you were there, but you cannot recall. Maybe it was an old french film that you saw, or a beautiful wedding you attended. Whatever the memory it be, it's a pleasant feeling that takes over, like birds singing to you on your window sill whilst sipping tea.  

Movie Maven: Ginger McKenna

If there were ever a movie to showcase the glitz and glam of Sin City; Casino would be the headliner time and time again.  Sequins, lace, fur, and endless shimmers of gold co-starred alongside the devastatingly beautiful Ginger McKenna played by Sharon Stone. As her character the ever-so-manipulative, gold-digging hustler creates a life for herself robbing and charming the cash out of the high rollers, she eventually falls in love with powerful mobster Ace played by Robert De Niro who does not hold back in showering her with all the precious gems and stones her wicked heart desired.

Jeans & A Tee Kinda Gal

According to most men; there's nothing sexier than a seeing their girlfriend in a t-shirt and jeans. We couldn't agree more.  

As fashion is ever-changing, a simple tee, sexy pair of jeans and tousled hair will always be in style, along with a fierce comfortable-in-your-own-skin attitude. 

Style Spotlight: Emily Ratajkowski

You may recognize this olive skinned beauty dancing around and snuggling a baby lamb from a certain video featuring a certain musician alongside a fellow musician. If you haven't figured it out by now. This brunette beauty is indeed the skintight-clan, white-jumpsuit-wearing (or barely suited; whichever version you watched) model from the Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines" music video featuring singer/rapper Pharrell Williams. But wait, that's not what got our attention; Ratajkowski's easy, effortless style and glowing, natural make-up has got us all in a state of blur.

Urs Fischer Exhibit: MOCA Los Angeles

Talk about an imagination. Showing now at the MOCA is the ever so eccentric (but in a good way) Urs Fischer. One of the biggest (literally) being his "Untitled" Clay Exhibit featuring a larger than life  statue displayed at the center of the museum's parking lot facing Little Tokyo. But we are not stopping there, per walking into the museum a huge banner welcomes you to Urs Fischer's exhibit with the help of 1,500 Los Angelenos. What does that mean you ask, just make a visit for yourself. Keep in mind Thursdays are free from 5pm-8pm.

Look of the Day: Who What Wear

If the cold weather has caused you to be in somewhat of a style slump such as myself, fear no more! Spring is right around the corner and with the help of the talent at Who What Wear, they've created a daily dose of Looks of the Day to help energize and rejuvenate even the most stagnant of styles. So click on and freshen up your wardrobe with pops or color, unexpected mashing of prints, boldly wear those metallic loafers, and get inspired to have fun and take chances with your wardrobe.

Exhibit | Stanley Kubrick Retrospective LACMA

Upon entering the Stanley Kubrick Retrospective at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, you are immediately whisked away into a dark room showcasing one of his movies.  Fans of the meticulous director are already shifted into a trace completely memorized by his immensely cultivated craft in which documents of his work and quotes from peers proved how much blood, sweat, and tears the late director put into each and every one of his films.

Movie Maven: Nikki in Alfie

Sienna Miller first burst into the scene as manic depressive party girl Nikki in the 2004 remake of Alfie starring then real-life boyfriend Jude Law. Things have quite changed since then, but fans of the film still hold onto the fearless, fashionably stylish wardrobe Miller donned while portraying the party girl gone array. This holiday season might be a little fun to take a cue from Nikki and pull out all the stops when it comes to our wardrobe choices for all the festive soirées.

Cleopatra: The Exhibit

The legend of Cleopatra is a dream come true for Hollywood directors. The story of a powerful Egyptian queen who managed to capture both the hearts of two powerful Roman leaders Mark Anthony and Julius Caesar with her allure and mesmerizing beauty. Little was known to how Cleopatra ruled or what a loving mother she was to her four children.  With the guidance of archaeologists Franck Goddio and Zahi Hawass; a successful excavation was set to uncover and discover what ancient ruins lay beneath the lost city of Alexandria. Discovered were over two-thousand year old documents, statues, and many more artifacts giving us a glimpse into her life as the last pharaoh of Egypt. 

Free People | September Sneak Peek

September is one of my favorite months! Not only is it the month of my birthday but it's also the month when the fall previews hit the webs and fashion magazines come stacked as thick as the yellow pages (Vogue is #1 at doing this). With that said, Free People gave us a tiny glimpse of their new September catalog. The concept is simply adorable! 

"Our September catalog was shot by Guy Aroch, who captures model Martha Hunt on the streets of London in a paparazzi-inspired style. Based around the concept of the modern “it girl” whose every move is documented, Martha dodges the camera as she does everyday things like taking out the trash and going to yoga, working on set and going out at night with her boyfriend, played by model Danny Fox. We love this book and the story it tells, and can’t wait for it to drop on Tuesday! Here’s a sneak peek."

Style Spotlight: Sarah Ruba

As the very cliched story of model-turned musician (ah-hem! Milla Jovovich circa 1994) seemingly has a rather short-lived life span, this one story in particular is something destined to be fully lived. Enter Canadian (currently Brooklyn-based) model-turned-musician Sarah Ruba, lead singer of the band New Look created with her husband Adam Pavao. Already creating a buzz in the electronic-dance scene, New Look's electronic-pop, dub-step sound temporarily leaves you in an of out-of-body, slow-motion exuberance that you never want to go away. Ruba's soft voice makes it even more enchanting--hypnotizing you into a realm of surrealistic bliss.

Vogue | Summer Travel Diaries 2012

Introducing Vogue's first series of installments of summer travel diaries straight from the snaps of the celebrities themselves.  Take a journey with Kate Bosworth as she and her new fiancé  Michael Polish venture out to Seoul, South Korea or party it up with TV personality Alexa Chung as she helps Louis Vuitton celebrate their flagship store opening at Shanghai’s Plaza 66.
